Macromineral: a mineral the body needs in relatively large amounts, supplying the chemical elements calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulfur, potassium, sodium, or chloride.

Trace mineral (or micromineral): a mineral the body needs for health in very small (trace) amounts, supplying the chemical element chromium, cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, zinc, or others.
