Turmeric Products
The following products use different methods to raise the absorption of curcumin, an active constituent of turmeric.
Curcumin Extract 700 and Inflama-Complete add Piperine, an extract of black pepper, to increase the bioavailability of curcumin.
CuraPro® 750 mg and Super Bio-Curcumin® use BCM-95®, a curcumin product with added essential oils of turmeric.
Theracurmin HP is highly processed, using a colloidal dispersion of submicron-size particles of turmeric.
A study done in 1998 showed that the piperine in black pepper improves the bioavailability of curcumin by a factor of 20.
Scientific research on BCM-95® appears to be the most extensive. More than 50 published studies confirm the benefits of BCM-95®, including 22 human trials.
